Mike Tyson’s cannabis company, The Ranch Companies, announced that it acquired a Smart Cups license to print cannabis products. Smart Cups has a technology to print a layer of microencapsulated and flavored active ingredients from natural products on the bottom of a bioplastic cup. The liquid is then added by the consumer, reducing transportation costs and allowing precise dosage control.
Chris Kanik, founder and CEO of Smart Cups, explained that the company uses “water-soluble cannabinoids” and is “able to print them accurately on virtually any surface.” The cannabinoids are then released when they come into contact with a liquid.
Tyson said Smart Cups technology has long-term benefits for consumers, helping “people to be confident and understand the proper dosage.
Rob Hickman, CEO of The Ranch Companies, called the dosage of cannabis-infused drinks “one of the systematic problems plaguing” the cannabis industry.
We have partnered with top research universities to collect critical clinical data on CBD for medical purposes and pain relief,” he said. “Smart Cups technology is a new model of consumption that we believe will set new standards in the industry.
Hickman said that once the federal CBD rules are in place, The Ranch Companies will “target national distribution” of the Smart Cups product.
