Oral hygiene giant Colgate Palmolive joins the ranks of major American companies to go into hemp and CBD. The conglomerate has announced the acquisition of Hello Products. A New Jersey-based oral care brand that recently launched its product line at CBD.
Hello Products offers a range of 3 toothpastes, 2 mouthwashes and a lip balm infused with CBD in more than 1000 Ulta Beauty stores in the United States, the equivalent of Sephora. Hello products are also available in more than 44,000 points of sale in the United States.
All products contain broad-spectrum hemp oil and extract from hemp grown on U.S. farms under the 2018 Farm Bill.
Other U.S. food and cosmetics mega-corporations have also taken the CBD step. AriZona Tea has announced that it is developing a range of CBD and THC beverages. The company behind Oreo cookies wants to make CBD cookies. And major US and Canadian retailers such as Walmart are opening their doors to CBD products.
In January, the Consumer Brands Association, a grouping of food industry giants such as Coca-Cola, The Hershey Company, Kellogg’s, Nestlé, Del Monte, Kraft and Pepsico, announced the creation of a CBD Advisory Board to provide strategic input into the CBD approach to food. Board members include a former Director of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Karen Tandy, and a former Monsanto executive, Michael Taylor, who later moved to the FDA. No members of the U.S. hemp or marijuana industries sit on the board.
