In the United States, the use of CBD (Cannabidiol) has now become commonplace, and this cannabinoid is now recognized by many consumers for its benefits to their bodies. A recent study has just been published yesterday: 20% of Americans have already tried CBD, and 86% of them know what it is.

A study on CBD use in the USA

New Frontier Data is one of the world’s leading authorities on data analysis and processing, as well as business intelligence for the burgeoning cannabis industry. Joining forces with Square, a company, NFD published this Tuesday, May 19, 2020 a study (the first of its kind) on the CBD in the USA: “US CBD Consumer Report: archetypes & preferences”. This report can be consulted by clicking on this link.

This report is based on the largest US CBD consumer survey ever conducted to date. Unpublished in its analysis, it describes nine unique archetypes of CBD consumers and non-consumers.

20% of Americans have tried CBD

Our research shows that one in five Americans have used CBD, demonstrating a major leap in consumer interest in the industry,” said Giadha Aguirre de Carcer, founder and CEO of New Frontier Data. While this phenomenon is rooted in many other regions such as Europe and Latin America, the United States continues to represent the largest market for CBD; understanding its CBD consumers is, therefore, a priority for companies in the legal cannabis industry and a multitude of mature sectors such as catering and health and beauty.

The highlights of the report are as follows:
  • Among U.S. CBD consumers, the 35-54 age group (21% of consumers) is most likely to spend more than $100 per month on CBD.
  • 29% of Americans reported being likely to buy CBD in the last 6 months.
  • 18%, or 65 million Americans, have already tried Cannabidiol…
  • 86% of Americans are aware of the CBD and its use
  • 40% of U.S. CBD consumers use their CBD product at least once a week
  • 60% of American CBD consumers say they use it to regain some form of relaxation, thus relieving stress or reducing anxiety.
