Thanks to a
vote by the Sicilian regional government, medical Cannabis users in the large
province of southern Italy no longer have to pay a penny for their treatment.
The decree is the result of a long-term work carried out over more than a year by a committee set up by the Health Councillor and requested by some associations, including the Sicilian Cannabis Patients’ Association: ‘ Bis Ter.

- Prescriptions will be issued to patients for a maximum period of 6 months and will, of course, be renewable thereafter.
The prescription of cannabis for medical use is already legal in Italy when the patient does not respond to conventional therapies.
