The aim was to analyze the effects of positive screenings and blood alcohol levels on the admission of patients admitted to a burn center.
Researchers at the Jaycee Burn Centre in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA, analyzed data from all patients until 2015.
Adult patients (≥ 18 years old) admitted with a burn with or without injury between January 1, 2005, and December 31, 2015, included in the study. Demographics, length of stay, cost and mortality were assessed.
Patients who used CBD had shorter hospital stays than non-users and users of other drugs.
Mortality was 1% for people who tested positive for cannabis.
In our patient population, CBD use appears to be protective in acute burn admissions.
