By 2017, it is estimated that at least 20,000 Americans will die from liver cancer, most of whom are from HCV. New research on CBD and its effect on hepatitis convinces that cannabis would inhibit the hepatitis virus.

A study has revealed that CBD, one of the main compounds in cannabis, has important antiviral properties, particularly when it comes to protecting the body from the hepatitis C virus.

The study, conducted by Dr. Lowe, a professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Thus, it suggests that CBD could be an effective treatment for more than 3 million Americans suffering from HCV.

The researchers who conducted the study found that CBD inhibits HCV, and is generally antiviral.

The researchers combined CBD and HCV under laboratory conditions. As a result, isolated CBD inhibits HCV replication by 86.4% with a single application. As such, the study concluded that the direct antiviral effects of CBD could be effective against viral and non-veterinary hepatitis, also known as autoimmune hepatitis.

Although the researchers did not observe any antiviral effects of CBD on the hepatitis B virus (HBV) in vitro. But,they indicate that CBD could be antiviral against HBV in vivo. Particularly through the regulation of CB2 receptors in the body, positive immune responses for HCV and HBV have been observed.

Although there is already a cure on the market for hepatitis C, it costs more than $100,000 for 12 weeks… This treatment is effective . So,the main problem is that many people cannot afford such a high price.

Much more research is needed to examine the antiviral properties of CBD. However, this new study is a good basis for further research. This is in order to introduce natural, holistic and inexpensive natural remedies for viruses such as hepatitis.
